Zuhayr narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from Mansur, from Abd al-Malik, from Nu'aym ibn Dajajah al-Asadi, who said: I was with Ali when Abu Mas'ud entered upon him. Ali said to him, "O Farrukh, are you the one who says: 'One hundred years will not pass over the people while there is an eye on the earth that blinks'? You have erred; may your posterior hit the pit." "He only said: 'One hundred years will not pass over the people while there is an eye on the earth that blinks [from among those] who are alive today.' The prosperity and joy of this nation is only after the hundred."
