Zuhayr narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Muslim al-Batin, from Ali ibn al-Husayn, from Marwan ibn al-Hakam, who said: We were traveling with Uthman, and he heard a man performing talbiyah for both of them [Hajj and Umrah] together. He said, "Who is this?" They said, "Ali." He said, "Do you not know that I have forbidden this?" He said, "Yes, but I would not abandon the statement of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) for your statement."
