Hadith 3:52
Ubayd Allah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abd Allah narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi’ah, from Zayd ibn Ali, from his father, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi’, from Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stood at Arafah and said: "This is Arafah, and this is the standing place, and all of Arafah is a standing place." Then he departed when the sun had set, and he had Usamah ride behind him, while the people were striking to his right and his left. He did not turn toward them, and he was saying: "O people, upon you is tranquility." When he reached Jam’ (Muzdalifah), he prayed the two prayers there together. When morning came, he went to Quzah and stood upon it, and said: "This is Quzah, and this is the standing place, and all of Jam’ is a standing place." Then he departed. When he reached Muhassir, he spurred his she-camel until he crossed the valley, then he stopped. Then he had al-Fadl ride behind him. Then he came to the Jamrah, then he came to the place of sacrifice and said: "This is the place of sacrifice, and all of Mina is a place of sacrifice." He said: A young woman from Khath’am asked him for a legal ruling and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father is a very old man who has become senile, and the obligation of Hajj has reached him. Will it suffice if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Perform Hajj on behalf of your father." He turned the neck of al-Fadl [away]. Al-Abbas said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, why did you turn the neck of your cousin?" He said: "I saw a young man and a young woman, and I did not feel secure from the Shaytan regarding them." He said: A man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I threw the pebbles before I shaved." He said: "Shave or trim, and there is no harm." He said: Another came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I sacrificed before I threw the pebbles." He said: "Throw the pebbles, and there is no harm." He said: Then he came to the House (the Ka'bah) and performed Tawaf around it. Then he came to Zamzam and said: "O sons of Abd al-Muttalib, your task of providing water—were it not that the people would overcome you, I would have drawn [water] myself."
