Hadith 3:67
Ubayd Allah narrated to us, Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us, a sheikh from the people of Kufa, who is called Abu al-Muhayya al-Taymi, narrated to us, he said: Abu Matar narrated to me that Ali came to the clothes merchants and said to a man: "Sell me a shirt for three dirhams." He said: So he gave him a garment, and he wore it, [reaching] from his ankle to his wrist. When he wore it, he said: "Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with adornment with which I cover my nakedness and beautify myself among the people." Then he said: "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when he wore a new garment, used to say like this."
حدثنا عبيد الله حدثنا عثمان بن عمر حدثنا شيخ من أهل الكوفة يقال له أبو المحياة التيمي قال حدثني أبو مطر * أن عليا أتى أصحاب الثياب فقال لرجل بعني قميصا بثلاثة دراهم قال فأعطاه ثوبا فلبسه ما بين كعبه إلى رصغه فلما لبسه قال الحمد لله الذي كساني من الرياش ما أواري به عورتي وأتجمل به في الناس ثم قال كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا لبس ثوبا جديدا قال هكذا
