Hadith 3:69
Ubayd Allah narrated to us, Yazid bin Zuray' narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Hunayn narrated to me, from his father, who said: I heard Ali bin Abi Talib saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade me from a gold ring, wearing *al-qassi* (silk-blend garments), and *al-mu'asfar* (garments dyed with safflower), and reciting the Quran while I am bowing. He clothed me in a *sirah* (silk) garment, so I went out in it, or I went [somewhere] in it. When he saw it on me, he said: "I did not clothe you with it so that you would wear it." He said: So I returned and gave a portion of it to Fatimah, as if she were folding it with me. He said: So I tore it into two. He said: She said, "May your hands be covered in dust (an expression of distress), what have you done?" I said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade me from wearing it." She said: "Then wear it [as a head covering] and clothe your women with it."
