Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 3:73

Ubayd Allah narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan ibn Sa'id, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Hujayyah ibn 'Adi, who said: I asked Ali about the cow. He said: "It is for seven." I said: "The one with a broken horn?" He said: "There is no harm in it." I said: "The lame one?" He said: "If it reaches the place of sacrifice." And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to examine the eye and the ear.
