Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 244:1

And through it, Abu al-Qasim Zahir ibn Tahir ibn Muhammad al-Shahhami informed us—having read it to him—Abu Sa’d Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad al-Janzarudhi informed us—having read it to him—Abu ‘Amr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Hamdan al-Hiri informed us—by the reading of Abu Ja’far al-‘Aza’imi to him in Rajab of the year three hundred and seventy-five—Abu Ya’la Ahmad ibn ‘Ali ibn al-Muthanna al-Mawsili informed us, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Waki’ ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us, from Musa ibn ‘Ali, from his father, who said: I heard ‘Amr ibn al-‘As saying: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Tighten your garments upon yourself." He said: So I did. Then I came to him and found him performing ablution. He raised his head and looked at me, up and down, then said: "O ‘Amr, I intend to send you on an expedition, and Allah will keep you safe and grant you spoils, and I desire for you a goodly amount of wealth." He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I did not embrace Islam out of a desire for wealth; rather, I embraced Islam out of a desire for Jihad and to be with you." He said: "O ‘Amr, how excellent is righteous wealth for a righteous man."
