Hadith 116:15

Ahmad narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu al-Tayyah, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: When the day of the Conquest [of Mecca] arrived and the Quraysh went out, the Ansar said: "By Allah, this is truly strange! Our swords are dripping with the blood of the Quraysh, yet our spoils are being divided among them." This reached the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, so he sent for the Ansar specifically and said: "What is this that has reached me regarding you?" And they were people who did not lie, so they said: "It is what has reached you." He said: "Are you not pleased that the people go away with the spoils, while you return with the Messenger of Allah to your homes?" And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If the people were to travel through a valley—or he said a mountain pass—I would travel through the mountain pass of the Ansar."
