Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 143:1

Abu Ya’la Ahmad ibn ‘Ali ibn al-Muthanna al-Mawsili informed us, Hudba ibn Khalid narrated to us, Mubarak ibn Fudala narrated to us, Bakr and Thabit al-Bunani narrated from Anas: That Abu Talha saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) hungry (literally: folding his stomach). So he came to Umm Sulaym and said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) hungry, so do you have anything?" She said, "We have nothing except about a mudd of barley flour." He said, "Knead it and prepare it; perhaps we may invite the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) so he may eat with us." He said: So she kneaded it and baked it, and it became a loaf. He said: He said to me, "Invite the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." He said: So I came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) while there were people with him. Mubarak said: I think he said eighty-odd. He said: So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Talha invites you." He said to his companions, "Answer Abu Talha." So I came quickly until I informed him that his companions had come. Bakr said: He grabbed me by the shoulder. Thabit said: Abu Talha said, "The Messenger of Allah knows better what is in my house than I do." And they both said from Anas: So Abu Talha met him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have nothing except a loaf; I saw you hungry, so I ordered Umm Sulaym and she made a loaf for you." He said: He called for the loaf and called for the bowl, and placed it in it. He said, "Is there any ghee?" Abu Talha said, "There was something in the skin (container)." He said: So he brought it. He said: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and Abu Talha began squeezing it until something came out. Then the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wiped his index finger, then wiped the loaf, and it swelled. He said, "In the name of Allah," and the loaf swelled. He kept doing that and the loaf kept swelling until I saw the loaf in the bowl overflowing. He said, "Invite ten of my companions." So I invited ten for him. He said: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) placed his hand in the middle of the loaf and said, "Eat in the name of Allah." So they ate from around the loaf until they were full. He said: Then he said, "Invite ten others for me." So I invited ten others for him. He said, "Eat in the name of Allah." So they ate from around the loaf until they were full. He kept inviting ten by ten, and they would eat from that loaf until they were full, while the middle of the loaf, where the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had placed his hand, remained as it was.
