Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Khazim narrated to us, al-A’mash narrated to us, from Shaqiq, from ‘Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever swears an oath while he is wicked in it, in order to sever the property of a Muslim man by it, he will meet Allah while He is angry with him." Al-Ash’ath said: By Allah, it was regarding me and a man from the Jews concerning some land, and he denied me. So I brought him to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: "Do you have evidence?" I said: "No." He said to the Jew: "Swear." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, he will swear and then take my property." So Allah revealed: "Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price..."
