Muhammad narrated to us, al-Fudayl ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Mutarrif narrated to us, from Abu Hazim, from ‘Awn ibn ‘Abd Allah, from Ibn Mas‘ud, who said: There was nothing between our Islam and our being rebuked by this verse except four years: "Has the time not yet come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humble at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth?" And we turned to one another, saying: "What have we brought about? What have we done?"
