Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 152:204

Our Lord marvels at two men: a man who rose from his bedding and his blanket, from among his tribe and his family, to prayer, out of desire for what is with Me and out of fear of what is with Me. And a man who fought in the way of Allah, then he was defeated. He knew what was upon him in defeat and what was for him in returning, so he returned until he shed his blood. Allah says to His angels: "Look at My servant; he returned out of desire for what is with Me and out of fear of what is with Me, until he shed his blood."
