Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Ja'far bin 'Awn narrated to us, Mis'ar narrated to us, from 'Alqama bin Marthad, from al-Mughira al-Yashkuri, from al-Ma'rur, from 'Abdullah, who said: Umm Habiba said: "O Allah, bless me in my husband, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and in my father, Abu Sufyan, and in my brother, Mu'awiya." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "You have asked Allah for fixed lifespans, divided provisions, and reached traces (appointed times), none of which will be hastened before its due time. If you had asked Allah to protect you from the punishment of the Fire or the punishment of the grave, it would have been better or more excellent." He said: Then she mentioned the monkeys. He said: And I think he said the swine. "Were they among those who were transformed among the Children of Israel?" He said: "Indeed, Allah does not destroy a people and leave for them offspring or descendants. The monkeys—and I think he said the swine—existed before that."
