Hadith 152:26
Wahb ibn Baqiyyah al-Wasiti narrated to us, Khalid narrated to us, from al-Ala’ ibn al-Musayyab, from Amr ibn Murrah, from Abu Ubaydah, from Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "Indeed, those who were before you from the Children of Israel, when a worker among them would commit a sin, the forbidder would forbid him by way of admonition. Then, when the next day came, he would sit with him, eat with him, and drink with him, as if he had not seen him commit the sin the day before. When Allah saw that from them, He struck the hearts of some of them against others and cursed them upon the tongue of their Prophet David and Jesus, son of Mary. That is because they disobeyed and used to transgress. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, you must certainly enjoin the good, forbid the evil, and restrain the wrongdoer upon the truth, or else Allah will strike the hearts of some of you against others and curse you just as He cursed them."
