Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 152:313

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Isma'il bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to us, from Humayd bin Hilal, from Abu Qatada, from Usayr bin Jabir, who said: A black wind blew in Kufa, and a man came who had no habit other than [seeking] Abu 'Abd Allah bin Mas'ud. He said, "The Hour has come." He [Ibn Mas'ud] was reclining, so he sat up and said, "The Hour will not be established until inheritance is not divided and no one rejoices over spoils." He said, "An enemy will gather against the people of Islam, and the people of Islam will gather against them." He gestured with his hand toward Ash-Sham. I said, "Do you mean the Romans?" He said, "Yes." He said, "And at that fighting, there will be a severe apostasy. A detachment of the Muslims will pledge to die, not returning unless they are victorious. They will fight until night separates them; both sides will withdraw, neither having been victorious, and the detachment will be wiped out. Then the Muslims will pledge another detachment to die, not returning unless they are victorious. They will fight until evening, night separates them, and both sides will withdraw, neither having been victorious, and the detachment will be wiped out. "Then, when the fourth day comes, the remainder of the people of Islam will rise against them, and Allah will grant them victory. They will be slaughtered in a massacre—either he said 'the like of which has not been seen' or 'the like of which is not seen'—to the extent that a bird passing by their flanks will not pass them before it falls down dead. The sons of the same father, who were many, will count each other and find no one left of them except one man. So with what spoils will they rejoice, or what inheritance will they divide?" "While they are in that state, they will hear of people who are even more than that. A crier will come to them [saying] that the Dajjal has appeared among their offspring. So they will leave what is in their hands and advance. They will send ten horsemen as a vanguard." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "I surely know their names, the names of their fathers, and the colors of their horses. They are the best horsemen on the face of the earth on that day," or he said, "They are among the best horsemen on the face of the earth on that day."
