Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 152:32
Continuation of the Musnad of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA)
Hadith 152:32
And from al-A’mash, from ‘Umarah ibn ‘Umayr, from al-Harith ibn Suwayd, who said: ‘Abdullah narrated to us two hadiths, one of them from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and the other from himself. He said: "Indeed, the believer sees his sins as if he is sitting under a mountain, fearing that it might fall upon him. And indeed, the wicked person sees his sins like a fly that passed by his nose," and he gestured with his hand like this. He said: "And Allah is more joyful with the repentance of His servant than a man who descended into a desolate, destructive wilderness with his riding beast, upon which was his food and his drink. He laid his head down and slept a sleep, then he awoke, and his riding beast had gone, with his food and his drink upon it. He set out in search of it until thirst or hunger—Abu Shihab was in doubt—became severe upon him. He said: 'I will return to my place and die there.' So he returned to his place and laid his head down, then he awoke, and there was his riding beast beside him, with his food and his drink upon it."
