Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 152:42

Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Yunus narrated to us, from Abu Ma'shar, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, who said: We arrived with Abdullah [ibn Mas'ud] to Uthman. Uthman said to Abdullah, "What remains of you for women?" [Abdullah] said, "Come near, O Alqama," and I was a young man, so I drew near. He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came out to some young men who were bachelors and said, "Whoever among you possesses the means, let him marry, for it is more lowering to the gaze and more protective of the private parts. And whoever does not, then fasting is for him."
