Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 152:54

Continuation of the Musnad of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA)

Hadith 152:54

And from Abdullah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: "Indeed, Satan has despaired that the idols will be worshipped in the land of the Arabs, but he will be pleased with you with things other than that, with the trivialities which are the destructive sins on the Day of Resurrection. Beware of injustices as much as you are able, for the servant will come with good deeds on the Day of Resurrection, seeing that they will save him, but a servant will keep standing up and saying: 'O Lord, Your servant wronged me with an injustice.' So He will say: 'Erase from his good deeds.' He will continue like that until there remains no good deed for him. As for the sins, the likeness of that is like travelers who descended upon a barren land, having no firewood with them. The people dispersed to gather firewood, and it was not long before they gathered it, made a great fire, and cooked what they wanted. And such are the sins."
