Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from al-Harith ibn Suwayd, who said: Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Which of you finds his own wealth more beloved to him than the wealth of his heir?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, there is not one among us but that his own wealth is more beloved to him than the wealth of his heir." He said: "Know what you are saying." They said: "We do not know anything other than that, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "There is not a man among you but that the wealth of his heir is more beloved to him than his own wealth." They said: "How, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The wealth of one of you is only what he has sent ahead, and the wealth of his heir is what he has left behind."
