Hadith 154:143

Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Amr, from Abu al-'Abbas al-Sha'ir al-A'ma, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) besieged the people of Ta'if and did not attain anything from them. He said, "We are returning, if Allah wills." His companions said, "We are returning without having conquered it?" The Messenger of Allah said to them, "Go forth to the fighting." So they went forth to it, and wounds afflicted them. Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to them, "We are returning tomorrow." That pleased them, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) laughed.
