From Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) made a ring of gold. He used to place its stone in the palm of his hand when he wore it on his right hand. So the people made rings of gold. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sat upon the pulpit and removed it, and said: "I used to wear this ring and place its stone in the palm of my hand." Then he threw it away and said: "By Allah, I will never wear it again." So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) cast away the ring, and the people cast away their rings.
