From Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Your term in relation to the term of the nations that have passed is only like what is between the afternoon prayer (Asr) and the setting of the sun. And the likeness of you and the likeness of the Jews and the Christians is like a man who employed workers, and he said: 'Who will work for me until the middle of the day for a qirat?' So the Jews worked until the middle of the day for a qirat. Then he said: 'Who will work for me from the middle of the day until the afternoon prayer for a qirat, a qirat?' So the Christians worked. Then he said: 'Who will work from the afternoon prayer until the setting of the sun for two qirats, two qirats?' Behold, you are the ones who work from the afternoon prayer until the setting of the sun for two qirats, two qirats. Behold, you have the reward twice." The Jews and the Christians became angry and said: "We did more work and received less pay." He said: "Did I wrong you of your right in anything?" They said: "No." He said: "Then it is My bounty; I give it to whom I will."
