Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 154:210

On the authority of Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) held a horse race. He would send off from al-Hafya’ the horses that had been trained (for racing), and their finish line was at Thaniyat al-Wada’. He also held a race between the horses that had not been trained, and their finish line was from Thaniyat al-Wada’ to the Mosque of Banu Zurayq. He said: And he informed me that Abdullah used to race them.
