Hadith 154:95

Sahl ibn Zanjalah al-Razi narrated to us, al-Sabah ibn Muharib narrated to us, from Harun ibn Antarah, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from Ibn Umar, who said: A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "I broke my fast on a day of Ramadan." He said: "Without an excuse or travel?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Evil is what you have done." He said: "Indeed, so what do you command me?" He said: "Free a slave." He said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I have never owned a slave." He said: "Then fast two consecutive months." He said: "I cannot do that." He said: "Then feed sixty poor people." He said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I have not even satisfied my own family." He said: Then a basket containing dates was brought to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said: "Give this as charity to sixty poor people." He said: "To whom shall I give it?" He said: "To the poorest person you know." He said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, there is no household between its two sides [of the city] more in need than us." He said: "Then give it as charity to your family."
