Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 161:26

Muhammad ibn Qudamah narrated to us, he said: I heard Sufyan saying: Isma'il narrated to us, from Qays, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "By Allah, for one of you to take a rope, then gather firewood, carry it upon his back, and then eat from it and give charity, is better for him than to come to a man whom Allah has enriched from His bounty and ask him, whether he gives him or refuses him."
