Abu Bakr narrated to us, Ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, from 'Abdullah ibn al-Harith, who said: Al-'Abbas said to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, "Abu Talib used to protect you and defend you, so did you benefit him with anything?" He said: So he replied, "I found him in the depths of the Fire, and I brought him out to the shallow part."
