Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 161:55

Musa ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Abdullah al-Rumi narrated to us, he said: Jabir ibn Yazid ibn Rifa’ah narrated to me, from Harun ibn Abi al-Jawza’, from al-Abbas, who said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) under a tree, when the wind stirred, and the dry leaves that were upon it fell, while the green leaves that were upon it remained. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "What is the likeness of this tree?" The people said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Its likeness is that of the believer; when he shudders from the fear of Allah, his sins fall away from him, and his good deeds remain for him."
