'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr, from his father, that when Rafi' ibn Khadij died, 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: "Do not weep for him, for the weeping of the living over the dead is a torment for the dead." 'A'ishah said: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) only said that regarding a Jewish woman whose family was weeping over her: 'They are weeping for her, and she is being tormented in her grave.'"
