Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 150:226

'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah, from 'A'ishah, who said: I said to her, "O Mother, I do not care if I do not perform tawaf between al-Safa and al-Marwah." She said, "How evil is what you have said, O son of my sister! Indeed, those who were of the people of Manat, which was at al-Mushallal, used not to perform tawaf between them—or he [the narrator] said: 'used to perform tawaf between them'—Sufyan was in doubt. Then Allah revealed: 'Indeed, al-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah' [al-Baqarah: 158]. The Messenger of Allah performed tawaf between them, so it is a Sunnah."
