Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 150:392

'Abdullah ibn al-Rumi narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Hisham, from his father, from 'Aishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to love sweets and honey. When he prayed the 'Asr prayer, he would go around to his wives and draw near to them. He entered upon Hafsah and stayed with her longer than he used to stay. I asked about that, and it was said to me: "A woman from her people gifted her a skin of honey, and she gave the Prophet (ﷺ) a drink of it." I said: "By Allah, we will surely devise a plan against him." I mentioned that to Sawdah and said: "When he enters upon you, he will draw near, so say to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, did you eat Maghafir (a foul-smelling resin)?' For he will say to you: 'Hafsah gave me a drink of honey.' Then say to him: 'Its bees must have grazed on 'Arfat (a thorny tree with a foul smell).' I will say that to him, and you say it too, O Safiyyah." When he entered upon Sawdah, she said—and Sawdah said: "By Allah, other than Whom there is no god, I had intended to initiate what you said, and he was at the door, out of fear of you." When he drew near, she said: "O Messenger of Allah, did you eat Maghafir?" He said: "No." She said: "What is this odor?" He said: "Hafsah gave me a drink of honey." She said: "Its bees must have grazed on 'Arfat." When he entered upon me, I said the same thing to him. Then he entered upon Safiyyah, and she said the same thing to him. When he entered upon Hafsah, she said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I give you a drink of it?" He said: "I have no need of it." Sawdah said: "Subhan Allah! We have indeed forbidden it to him." I said: "Be silent."
