Hadith 150:432
Muhammad ibn Bakkar narrated to us, Ibn Abi al-Zinad narrated to us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, who said: My father said to me: Aisha said to him: "O son of my sister, I have seen from the Messenger of Allah’s honoring of al-Abbas a wondrous matter. That is because the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to be seized by a pain in the side (pleurisy), and it would become very severe for him. We used to say: 'The Messenger of Allah has been seized by a vein of the kidney,' and we did not know it was the side." She said: "The pain in the side seized the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) one day, and it became very severe for him until he fainted. We feared for the Messenger of Allah, and the people became alarmed for him. We thought he had pleurisy, so we administered a medicine (ladud) to him." She said: "Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) recovered and regained consciousness. He recognized that we had administered the medicine to him and felt the effect of the medicine. He said: 'Did you think that Allah would empower it (the disease) over me? Allah would not empower it over me. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, no one shall remain in the house except that they are administered the medicine, except for my uncle.'" Aisha said: "I saw them on that day being administered the medicine, man by man." Aisha said: "And whoever was in the house that day, their virtue was mentioned." She said: "So all the men were administered the medicine." She said: "Then, by Allah, the medicine reached the wives of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and we administered it, by Allah, woman by woman." She said: "Until the medicine reached a woman among us. She said: 'By Allah, I am fasting.' We said to her: 'How evil is what you think, that we would leave you when the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has sworn an oath?'" She said: "So we administered it to her, by Allah, O son of my sister, even though she was fasting." Urwah said: "And al-Abbas, by Allah, took the hand of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) when the seventy from the Ansar came to him at al-Aqabah. He took the pledge for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) from them and stipulated conditions upon them. That was at the beginning of Islam and its inception, before anyone worshipped Allah openly."
