Abu Hammam narrated to us, [he said] 'Ubad ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, from his father, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Samit, from 'A'ishah, the Mother of the Believers, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have two neighbors. One of them has a door opposite my door, and the other is far from my door, yet he is closer in the wall. To which of them should I begin [giving gifts]?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Begin with the one whose door is opposite your door." 'Abd al-Malik said: He is Abu 'Imran al-Jawni.
