Surayj ibn Yunus narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Talhah ibn Yahya, from 'Aishah bint Talhah, from 'Aishah the Mother of the Believers, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would often enter upon us and say to us: 'Do you have anything?' We would say: 'No.' He would say: 'Then I am fasting.'" She said: "He entered upon us one time, and we said to him: 'Some *hays* (a dish of dates, ghee, and dried yogurt) was gifted to us, and we have hidden some of it for you.' He said: 'Bring it here, for I had been fasting.' She said: 'So he ate.'"
