Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 150:92

Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Zakariyya narrated to us, from Talha ibn Yahya, from 'Aisha bint Talha, from 'Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would enter upon us and say, "Is there anything available with you for the morning?" We would say, "No." He would then say, "Then I am fasting." She said: And he entered upon us one day and said, "Is there anything with you?" She said: I said, "Yes, *hays* (a dish made of dates, ghee, and dried yogurt) that was gifted to us." He said, "I had started my morning fasting," then he called for it and ate.
