Hajjaj ibn Yusuf narrated to us, Yunus ibn Muhammad and Hujayn ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Yunus said: Habban ibn Ali narrated to us, from Uqayl, from al-Zuhri, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abd Allah, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The best of companions are four, the best of detachments are four hundred, and the best of armies are four thousand. And a people who reach twelve thousand will not be defeated due to fewness, if they are truthful and patient." Except that Hujayn said: From Ibn Shihab, and he did not say at the end of the hadith: "and patient."
