Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 111:117

Zuhayr narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abd Allah al-Asadi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Ali ibn Badhima, from Qays ibn Habtar, who said: I asked Ibn Abbas about the white, green, and red jars. He said: "The first to ask the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was the delegation of Abd al-Qays. He said: 'Do not drink from the gourd (dabba), the pitch-coated vessel (muzaffat), the hollowed-out log (naqir), or the green glazed jar (hantam), and do not drink from the jars (jarr). Drink from the waterskins (asqiya).' He said: 'So they poured water over them.' He said to him on the third or fourth time: 'Pour it out.' Then he said: 'Indeed, Allah has forbidden upon me—or He has forbidden—wine, gambling, the drum (kuba), and every intoxicant is forbidden.'" Sufyan said: I said to Ali ibn Badhima, "What is the kuba?" He said: "The drum."
