Zuhayr narrated to us, Ubayd Allah ibn Abd al-Majid al-Hanafi narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Tamam, from Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade branding on the face. When al-Abbas heard that, he branded [his animals] on the haunches.
