Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 111:127

Zuhayr narrated to us, Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us, Yunus informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Yazid ibn Hurmuz, that Najdah al-Haruri, when he went out during the tribulation of Ibn al-Zubayr, sent to Ibn Abbas asking him about the share of the kinsfolk: to whom does he consider it to belong? He said: "It is for the kinsfolk of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) divided it among them. Umar had offered us a portion of it, but we saw it as being less than our right, so we rejected it and refused to accept it." And what he had offered them was that he would assist their unmarried ones, pay off their debtors, and give to their poor, but he refused to give them more than that.
