Abu Khaythama narrated to us, al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah, from Hakim ibn Hakim ibn Abbad ibn Hunayf, from Nafi' ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "Gabriel led me in prayer at the House (the Ka'bah) twice. He prayed the Dhuhr prayer when the sun had passed the meridian, to the extent of a sandal strap. Then he prayed the Asr prayer when the shadow of everything was equal to its length. Then he prayed the Maghrib prayer with me when the fasting person breaks his fast. Then he prayed the Isha prayer with me when the twilight had disappeared. Then he prayed the Fajr prayer when food and drink become forbidden for the fasting person. Then he prayed the Dhuhr prayer on the following day when everything was equal to its shadow. Then he prayed the Asr prayer when everything was twice its shadow. Then he prayed the Maghrib prayer with me when the fasting person breaks his fast, at the same time as the first day. Then he prayed the Isha prayer when the first third of the night had passed. Then he prayed the Fajr prayer—I do not know what he said—then he turned to me and said: 'O Muhammad, this is the time of the prophets before you, and the time is between these two times.'"
