Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 109:101

Bishr ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman ibn Sulayman ibn Abd Allah ibn Hanzalah ibn Abi Amir al-Ghasil narrated to us, from Asim ibn Umar ibn Qatadah, from Jabir, who said: Al-Muqni ibn Sinan came to visit [the sick], and he was the maternal uncle of Asim, the brother of his mother. He greeted him while he was wearing a cloak and a waist-wrapper, and his eyesight had been afflicted. He said, "What are you complaining of?" And he touched his head and his beard with some yellow substance. He said, "A boil that has prevented me from sleeping and kept me awake." Jabir said, "O boy, call a cupper for us." Al-Muqni said, "And what will you do with a cupper, O Abu Abd Allah?" He said, "I want to attach a cupping glass to it." He said, "May Allah forgive you! By Allah, even a garment touching me or a fly landing on me hurts me." When he saw his anxiety regarding that, he began to narrate to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If there is any good in any of your medicines—or if it is—then it is in the incision of a cupper, or a drink of honey, or a cauterization by fire that suits the ailment; but I do not like to be cauterized." So he called the cupper, and he attached the cupping glass to his boil. When it reached the edge of his eyebrow, he incised it with a lancet he had with him. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, brought out what was in it of its harm, and he was cured.
