Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 109:149

Zuhayr narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir: That the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by a donkey whose nostrils were smoking, and it had been branded on its face. He said, "Have I not cursed the one who did this? Let it not be branded on the face, and let it not be struck on the face."
