Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ishaq informed us, from ‘Ata’, from Jabir, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) arrived in Makkah, the people of the cross—those who collect fats—came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we collect these fats from dead animals and other things, and they are only for leather and ships." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "May Allah fight the Jews; the fats were forbidden to them, so they sold them and consumed their prices." Then he forbade them from that.
