Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from ‘Ata’ ibn Yasar, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When you hear the barking of dogs and the braying of donkeys, then seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan, for they see what you do not see. And reduce your going out when the footsteps have quieted, for Allah spreads among His creation in the night what He wills. And bolt the doors, for Satan does not open a door if it is bolted. And tie the water skins, and cover the vessels, and extinguish the lamps."
