Ibn Numayr narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade incantations (ruqyah). Then my maternal uncle came to him, and he used to perform incantations for the scorpion sting. He said: "You have forbidden incantations, yet I perform incantations for the scorpion sting." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever is able to benefit his brother, let him do so."
