Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said: When he enters his grave—meaning the deceased—and the angel comes to him, he rises up startled just as the sleeper is startled. Then they ask him, and he answers them. They say to him, "What is your religion?" He says, "Islam. Let me go until I go out [to pray]." They say to him, "Be silent."
