Ibn Numayr narrated to us, my father narrated to us, al-A’mash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, who said: I asked Jabir while he was residing in Makkah, and he was staying among Banu Fihr. A man asked him, "Did you used to call anyone from the people of the Qiblah a polytheist?" He said, "God forbid," and he was alarmed by that. He said, "Did you used to call anyone among you a disbeliever?" He said, "No."
