Ubayd Allah ibn Umar narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Harith narrated to me, from Ata ibn Yasar, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "When you hear the barking of a dog at night or the braying of donkeys, then seek refuge in Allah, for they see what you do not see. And reduce your going out when the footsteps have quieted, for Allah spreads throughout His night from His creation whatever He wills. And bolt the doors and mention the name of Allah upon them, for the devil does not open a door that has been bolted and the name of Allah has been mentioned upon it. And cover the jars, and turn over the vessels, and tie the waterskins."
