Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 109:89

Abu Bakr narrated to us, Abu Ahmad narrated to us, from Sharik, from Ibn Aqil, from Jabir, that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever wishes to fast, let him take the pre-dawn meal (suhur), even if it is with something."
