Musnad Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili 92:1

Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Dawraqi narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Harb narrated to us, Yahya narrated to me, he said: Habbah ibn Habis al-Tamimi narrated to me, that his father informed him that he heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying: "There is nothing in the *hamah* (owl/superstition regarding the dead), and the evil eye is true. And the most truthful of omens is the *fa'l* (optimistic word)."
