Hadith of Abu Barzah al-Aslami from the Prophet (SAW)
حديث أبي برزة الأسلمي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
Hadith 247:18
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Sulayman ibn Amr ibn al-Ahwas, who said: The master of this house, Abu Hilal, narrated to me that he heard Abu Barzah al-Aslami narrating that they were with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and they heard singing, so they craned their necks toward it. A man stood up and listened, and that was before wine was prohibited. He came to them and then returned and said: "This is so-and-so and so-and-so, and they are singing, one of them answering the other, and he is saying..." and he mentioned the like of it.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن يزيد بن أبي زياد عن سليمان بن عمرو بن الأحوص قال حدثني رب هذه الدار أبو هلال أنه سمع أبا برزة الأسلمي * يحدث أنهم كانوا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فسمعوا غناء فتشوفوا له فقام رجل فاستمع وذلك قبل أن تحرم الخمر فأتاهم ثم رجع فقال هذا فلان وفلان وهما يتغنيان يجيب أحدهما الآخر وهو يقول فذكر نحوه
